New ICD-10 Codes in US update Sjogren's syndrome

 The new ICD-10 Codes in the USA, now update Sjogrens from sicca to many other known symptoms.

The American College of Rheumatology and the Sjögren’s Foundation have updated the ICD-10 Code for Sjögren’s. These changes will benefit providers, researchers, insurers, and patients, and address the key complications of Sjögren’s that were not included previously.

“While dryness (sicca) certainly occurs in Sjögren’s, dryness alone does not represent the disease and its many other manifestations" ~ Sjögren’s Foundation.

New codes include:

Sjogren syndrome with inflammatory arthritis

Sjogren syndrome with peripheral nervous system involvement

Sjogren syndrome with central nervous system involvement

Sjogren syndrome with gastrointestinal involvement

Sjogren syndrome with glomerular disease

Sjogren syndrome with vasculitis

Sjogren syndrome with dental involvement
